Tomorrow or a bit later...

I am so excited about our holiday being sooo close, that I think I will start packing my stuff right now! We are going on Friday night, we have to wake up in the middle of the night, but still I will have Friday afternoon to check if I have all I need for the trip... Yeay yeay yeay!!!

Special delivery

Today at work, when I took out my box of blueberries to eat them, I realised that they grew in... my home country :))) As my manager K. said: you paid £1.00 and they sent a packet of blueberries from Poland, for you :)

Good news day

There are days when you think that life is a crap, and then there are days when you are just overwhelmed with all the good things happening around you... Today:
- my fiance got a job offer as a manager!
- I got my essay about witches back, graded 86%!
- my fiance made my favourite meal for dinner! (Sabzi polo ba mahi)
- to celebrate the new job, I brought strawberry cake, so will have this deliciossa as dessert!
Anything else, anyone?!

Awesome weekend!

We had loads of fun with my fiance and my brother this weekend. Friday night - playing pool, Saturday afternoon - sunbathing and barbeque on the beach, and today - a whole-day trip, walking up and down the cliffs in a beautiful weather...
I love the sun. I can't live without it. My greatest fear right now is that when we come back from our holidays at the beginning of September, the weather will quickly become sad, cloudy, rainy and greyish... And then short, cold days will come... Eh, nothing left but warming up with a blanket, a cup of tea and lots of sweets, which definitely would form new layers of fat on my legs and my tummy :/ I have to avoid it!
Good that the sun is still here...

Holidayish :)

And we are going to be on our holidays in a week time!!!

They are back!

Yesterday my parents cam back from their holidays. This is a big deal, because they haven't been on real holidays, just the two of them, for a loooong time. This was like a second honeymoon for them! They flew a Greek island, where they sent nearly two weeks. They lived in a hotel by the seaside, and had breakfasts and dinners in the hotel restaurant, so my mum didn't have to worry about cooking, and my dad about driving around in a car. They spent lots of time on sunbathing and swimming in the sea, and sightseeing around. They came back very happy and relaxed. And brought so many beautiful pictures with them!
I am happy they finally got the holidays they needed for so long!

A year

Today I started a new, second year of my work in the current place. Exactly a year ago my contract started, and with a group of people we joined a 2-week training session in order to be well prepared to do our job. Not all of us "survived" until now, but those who are still in the one big team of "first members", should be proud of it! :)
So, one year less to my retirement! Heheheh.
The most important thing is that I actually like my job and I see ways of development for myself. Of course it is not my dream job, but it could have been much, much worse.

Coaching

Today I had my first meeting with my coach. I must say it was very fruitful and interesting. We discussed about my goals, what and when I would like to achieve. We made a list of the skills I want to work on. We will be meeting every once in a while for over than three months to check my improvement.
The ways I will try to develop my skills will be: taking some trainings and, more important, getting involved into team projects and any extra bits of work. This should build up my confidence, train me in managing more responsibilities, build relationships within the team etc.
I spoke to my manager and I already have a couple of "mini projects" to do. I really like it. Small challenges, which will make my days more interesting and give me opportunities to learn new things :)
I am really happy with the coaching so far :)

Aqua shoes

Holiday preparations are moving on! Last weekend we bought ourselves aqua shoes - special, soft and tight shoes with thick soles. They should be worn on the beach and in the sea, where the bottom is rather made of stones and rocks than silky sand. They can also protect the foot if we accidentally step on any little ocean animal. I've never had shoes like this before. I feel the scent of adventure coming!
Indeed, in 12 days we'll be far, far away from here :)

I'm loving it!

Tonight we had our traditional summer bbq on the hill... Lots of fun. The bonfire was great. I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow...

One more

A piece of good news for a good-night. Yesterday I had a short talk with my manager (my lovely, girly, 22-year old manager, heheh!)... But let's start where we should.
Last week, after our discussion about my "career" plans for the next two years, she said that she would consult her manager and would try to maybe organise some personal training or a kind of coaching for me, so I could develop my soft skills. I was surprised with this, but of course happy, as it's a great idea and it's very nice of her that she would like to at least try to do this (let's not be naive, there are lots of people in this company worth investing time and money...).
So, yesterday we had a short talk again, and on Monday I am having my first meeting with my coach! Yeay! I am sooo excited :)

Studies...

Yesterday I had a meeting with my tutor about the last small essay we have to write and about the big, final one, which is very important, as the score we get from it will make 50% of the overall grade from this course...
Everything is going well so far - that means that my plan of the essay is interesting and correct. The only thing left to do - piece of cake really - is to write these 5000 words :) And before that I have a warm-up in a form of a small, 1000-word essay-conclusion. Eh, September will be busy for me this year...
I can't really believe that the time went by so fast and I am finishing the course I started in January... It seemed to be so difficult, but somehow, not without effort, I managed to get through most of it so far... And I was even told that my English is excellent! Honestly, I didn't expect that! :)

My feet...

They just hurt so much today that I would rather cut-them-out!
I guess that's the price I have to pay for the lovely day I had. Whole Saturday in London with my family and friends... It was great and worth every pain! (just hope that tomorrow I will be able to walk!)
Some pics coming soon, as we've been to pretty much awesome and interesting places, like Natural History Museum and Science Museum. The dinosaurs were great, and I really enjoyed listening to the sounds of the Internet :)

Ugh

I dare to think that the fact that many Polish people live now in Great Britain is commonly known. In summer the number of Poles in the UK grows significantly, because many of them come here for holidays, to see their friends or family, or for summer work. And I can't really believe in two things:
- first, in their enormous stupidity, because even though they should be aware of the fact that many of Poles are in the UK, they seem not to acknowledge that some of them can actually live or work in the same place, go to the same shops, pass them on the street, and simply understand every single word they are saying
- second, their extreme level of being rude - is it the way they always speak, or is it their stupidity, ignorance and the lack of limits they serve themselves in a foreign country?
Today I got so frustrated and ashamed of what I heard during about 3 minutes while trying clothes in a fitting room, that when leaving the shop I made a small surprise for the authors of the swearings :P

Finally!

Yesterday I had a first really nice and honest (not sweet "bla bla" about nothing) girl-to-girl talk since a loooong time :) That makes me very happy, even more because of the fact that I finally found someone who is different than the whole consumering rest of people in this country. I am restoring my faith that I can find people who understand me and - yeah - make friends!

News

While I was reading news during my break at work today, I found out that:
- one of my favourite U2 songs, "New Year's Day", was written about Poland and Solidarity movement :) (yes, I didn't know that before!)
- in 1990ies Vatican's bank was a place of huge money-laundering for Italian politicians, which was revealed by the recent publication of Vatican's financial archives :(
- Great Britain, France, Germany and USA will not send congratulation letters to Ahmadinejad, who was recently sworn to be a president of Iran :P

Cure

I needed this Sunday to realize once again that the best and the easiest cure for depression and sadness is just to get away from the everyday life, places and things-to-do. Even for a short while. All you need is the sun shining straight into your face, and the wind in your hair, and a bus or train ticket taking you anywhere outside the city.
Our Sunday trip was absolutely refreshing. I haven't had such a good time for a long time. And although I will have a busy week, I know I can handle it.
